We are proud to be part of the recent Studio Pilates project in Applecross, working alongside Access Projects to deliver a clean, high performing space tailored to reformer Pilates. This new location reflects the precision and consistency the Studio Pilates brand is known for, and the lighting design was a critical element in bringing that to life. The brief called for minimal, functional lighting that supports both the aesthetic and performance needs of a premium Pilates studio. From early morning classes through to after work sessions, the lighting needed to create an environment that felt bright, calm and distraction free.
In a reformer Pilates environment, where focus and control are key, lighting can either support or interfere with the client experience. Our approach was to enhance the flow of the space with subtle, indirect lighting that complements the studio’s clean lines and natural tones. By avoiding harsh overheads and choosing colour temperatures that aligned with the finishes, we were able to soften the feel of the room while maintaining strong visual clarity for instructors and clients alike.
Working closely with the team at Access Projects, we ensured the lighting installation met Australian Standards while also delivering a polished and cohesive finish. Electrical coordination was seamless, with early planning allowing for precise placement of fittings and concealed runs to keep the studio’s signature minimal look intact. The end result is a calm, well lit environment that elevates the training experience without drawing attention to the lighting itself – exactly as intended.
The Studio Pilates Applecross fit out is a strong example of how thoughtful lighting can enhance wellness focused commercial spaces. It is not just about visibility, but about creating an atmosphere that supports movement, clarity and focus. For projects in the health and fitness space, lighting should always work with the way clients move and feel, helping to create consistency and comfort through every session.
